PNC Bank is open in Canton

Photo by: Donated photo OPEN FOR BANKING BUSINESS — PNC Bank in Canton celebrated its ribbon-cutting event Aug. 30.

PNC Bank, 66 Academy St., in Canton, celebrated a ribbon-cutting event Aug. 30, to introduce the bank to the Canton and surrounding communities. The Greater Haywood Chamber of Commerce participated in the event.

The RBC to PNC conversion took place in early March. PNC Bank Originated in Pennsylvania and is one of the largest banks in the United States, based on deposits and branches. PNC bank is ranked among the top small business lenders and was the first major U.S. bank to design and build bank branches based on U.S. Green Building Council standards.

Community involvement and development are top priorities to PNC ,with charitable giving of more than $68.9 million invested in communities in 2011.  The PNC Foundation forms partnerships with nonprofit organizations to advance mutual objectives driven by two priorities: (1) early childhood education; and (2) community and economic development.

PNC Grow Up Great offers school readiness initiatives that have benefitted more than 1 million at-risk  children from birth to age five through grants, advocacy, volunteerism and awareness.
