Waynesville police have arrested two people they believe are responsible for stealing mail from several homes.

Residents on Grimball Drive called police about mail being stolen after a man observed a vehicle pull up to his mailbox and steal mail via video surveillance at his home.

Officers later pulled over Kendra Henson and Anthony Strickler, finding open envelopes strewn all over the car, said Lt. Chris Chandler.

They also led officers to a river bank where they had thrown several pieces of mail out the car window.

Police returned the recovered mail to the post office for delivery, but there may still be some missing envelopes.

The thieves struck areas near Camp Branch Road, Allens Creek Road, Hyatt Creek Road, Halltop Road and Grimball Drive.

Anyone missing mail that should have been delivered on Friday, Jan. 4 or Saturday, Jan. 5, contact the Waynesville Police Department at 456-5363.

Henson and Strickler will face forthcoming charges from the Haywood County Sheriff's Office as well.
