The fourth annual Popcorn Sutton Summer Jam, or "Hillbilly Woodstock," will return to Maggie Valley this weekend.

The event will be held from 4 to 11 p.m. Aug. 2 and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 3 at Maggie Valley Festival grounds

Tickets can be purchased for $6 plus fees at the gate. Founders Becky Ramey and Pam Sutton decided from midnight Friday, July 26 to Aug. 3, $1 from each ticket purchase will go to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation, Inc., in Popcorn Sutton’s name.

“Hillbilly Woodstock” is more than a music festival — it’s an experience steeped in heritage for all ages. This fourth annual all-day music festival celebrates the life of legendary local moonshiner Popcorn Sutton. Gone legit, his recipe lives on under the name, Popcorn Sutton’s Tennessee White Whiskey.

There will be two stages with live entertainment all day. Attendees can also enjoy a DJ, food, craft and educational vendors and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase.

Other entertainments includes line dancers, educational booths on moonshine history (12 pre-prohibition moonshine stills and old moonshine accessories),  "Moonshiners" from the hit TV Show, "Twisted Hillbilly Magazine" & "Tex Dipper" and the Mrs. Popcorn Sutton Booth with T-shirts and other vintage items.

What a great event and celebration of mountain culture. I hope none of the elitist snobs who continue to deny moonshiners place in our heritage weren't too terribly offended. Nah, never mind...shine on!!
