Rep. Michele Presnell (R-Yancey) has been appointed to the Cultural and Natural Resources Joint Study Committee.
The committee will develop a plan for state-owned cultural and natural resource assets by developing inventory and conducting a nationwide analysis of other similar resources at the federal, state and local level.
Legislators will meet with industry professionals and various stakeholders as they make recommendations to the General Assembly to streamline efficiency while maintaining the quality of North Carolina’s cultural and natural resources.
The evaluation of North Carolina’s cultural and natural resources is part of an ongoing effort to streamline government efficiency while maintaining the quality of state assets.
Recommendations will be reported during the 2014 short session and the 2015 long session of the General Assembly as a component of the Legislative Research Commission report.
Presnell said serving on this committee was her No. 1 choice because of the natural resources that abound in the 118th House District.
"I want to see what their plans are," she said. "These are things that will change what happens, so I wanted to be in a position to speak about it."
