Property tax deadline approaching

Each fall, property tax notices are mailed out for real estate, business personal property and individually held personal property.

The taxes can be paid anytime between the arrival of the notice through Jan. 5 without interest. If Jan. 5 falls on a weekend, the payment period is extended to the next day of business.

An interest charge of 2 percent is added for taxes paid after the deadline, and an additional percentage is added on the first day of each month thereafter until the bill is paid in full.
