'Purgatorio' leaves audience speechless
HART's Feichter Studio opened a doozy of a thinker's play Friday night. Ariel Dorfman's "Purgatorio" left the appreciative audience speechless and scratching their heads. That bemusement translated into a standing ovation for the actors and production.
"I'm going to think about this some more and come back to see it again," said longtime HART supporter and board member Meiko Thompson, to friends nearby agreed.
The most exciting thing about the Feichter Studio is its concept. Actors and directors are free to explore plays they like, ask executive director Steven Lloyd's approval, pay a nominal rental fee for the intimate space to the left of HART's main hall, cast it and put on their own show. They can push the envelope and not have to worry about ticket sales.
