Dance workshops offered July 17
On Thursday, July 17, MusicWorks Studio of Performing Arts will offer drop-in dance classes for any student who is ready to get back to dance. The cost is $10 for one class or $16 for two classes.
Class participants should either wear dance clothes such as a leotard with tights and shorts, or sweat/yoga/jazz pants with a T-shirt. All ladies must wear tights with shorts. No bare legs.
Here’s what’s on deck for Thursday:
— 4 to 5 p.m.: Tap I-II and Broadway Dance: For those students with limited amount of dance skills or none at all. Ideal age range is rising first through fifth graders. Students should bring tap shoes and jazz shoes. Ballet or hip hop shoes are also fine.
5:15 to 6:15 p.m.: Broadway Jazz Dance: For rising grades sixth through 12th graders. This is a great introduction to storytelling through the use of dance movement. No former experience required. Lots of fun and great exercise as students explore basic musical theater dance steps and Broadway show choreography.
— 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.: Int/Early Adv. Tap: Ideal for tappers in middle and high school with former tap training who need to brush up on all of the basic tap steps including time steps, traveling steps, paddle and roll, tap turns and a couple of fun combos.
Pre-registration is requested but not required to attend any of the classes on July 17. Call 565-0381 to pre-register.
More drop-in classes for dance, music and drama will be offered the weeks of July 21-25 and July 28-Aug. 1. For a list of these drop-in classes call 565-0381 or visit us on Facebook.
