Tom Erwin, of Indiana, built this motorcycle with a menacing sidecar, and Teri Conrad, editor of Accelerate Magazine by his side.

Owners of the rare Kawasaki 1500 Drifter came together from around the world for an annual four-day motorcycle ride, which was based in Maggie Valley this year.

Kawasaki built the cruiser from 1999 to 2005 created in the classic style lines of the 1940s Indian Chief motorcycle.

The Vulcan Drifters Owners Club stopped by the Clyde Volunteer Fire Department Friday evening to visit the 9/11 memorial, which was erected in 2011 in front of the department using steel extracted from the World Trade Center remains.
