CLYDE — Paris Ray James, 73, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Paris E. and Amanda Lee Lindsey James. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Jones James; one sister, Jewel J. Swanger; a son, Michael James; and two infant children, Danny Garfield and Deborah Ann James.
Ray was a plumber and a long time employee for Imoco. He was an avid fisherman and loved to watch NASCAR. Ray’s most important treasure was his family.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Vivian Penland James; a daughter, Lisa Michelle Pressley, of Waynesville; three sons, Mark Dewayne James, Paris Alan James, of Cruso, and Bobby Ray James, of Clyde; two stepdaughters, Sherri James Duvall, of Kingport, Tennessee, and Pamela James Gravel, of Canton; one stepson, Terry Jerome James, of Clyde; one sister, Mary Pressley, of Candler; one brother, David Howard James, of Clyde; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
At Ray’s request, no services will be held.
