Raymon Lon Reece
PALATKA, FLORIDA — Raymon Lon Reece, of Palatka, Florida, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014, after an extended illness with a brief stay at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center. He was born Sept. 25, 1935, in Canton, the sixth child of Zemery and Mae Reece. Lon graduated from Bethel High School in 1953 and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served for four years in Germany during the Korean War. He was employed by Hudson Pulp & Paper Co. for 30 years before retiring. Lon was a member in good standing of the Sonoma Lodge #472 AF &AM in Bethel.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosa Lee Jones Reece; a son, Stephen M. Reece, of Palatka; three daughters, Stephanie Brooker and husband, Steve, of Bostwick, Florida, Sharon Drew and husband, Johnnie, of Palatka, and Shamberly Payne and husband, Joey, of Lake Asbury, Florida; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Rogers and Louise Deaver, both of Canton, Gwen Lanning, of Oregon, and Gayle West, of Wicomico, Virgina; and two brothers, Don Reece of Boaz, Alabama, and Dean Reece, of Santa Monica, California.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with the Revs. Don Reece and Darrell Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill West Cemetery.
