Jul 03, 2013

The public is invited to attend the first ever “Man of the Year” Gala competition and fundraiser for REACH of Haywood from 6 p.m. on Friday, July 12 at Laurel Ridge Country Club.

Five brave men from the community, Brian Cagle, (Beverly Hanks & Assoc.), Dan Fangmeyer, Dr. Michael Hogan, (Blue Ridge Chiropractic), Preston Tinsley (The Gateway Club) and Tim Freeman (Haywood Builders Supply) will compete in a style show, talent show and Q & A session, promising many laughs and spirited antics.

The competitor who raises the most donations will be crowned “Man of the Year.” There will also be an award for “Best Talent.” Tickets are $100 each and include the competition, entertainment and full dinner. There will be a cash bar. Tickets may be purchased at Within REACH Resale Store, 456 Hazelwood Avenue, Waynesville or from any REACH of Haywood board member as well as by calling 456-7898.

All profits will go to support the mission and services of REACH of Haywood, the county’s domestic violence/sexual assault/elder abuse prevention and intervention agency. REACH honors and encourages all men of good will to understand and support the belief that domestic violence and sexual assault are issues that can only be healed when the culture of violence against women and children is changed by men themselves, through encouraging and promoting non-violent relationships.

With education and mobilization, men can begin to understand their crucial role in making the world safer for women and girls as well as other men and boys in their lives. For more information about the “Man of the Year” Gala, call REACH or visit
