Thanks for support
To the editor:
This is a note of thanks to everyone who participated in the recent Charity Challenge sponsored by WLOS, news 13.
Start from Seed, The Canton Community Kitchen and STAR Ranch all received wonderful exposure due to the Charity Challenge program that Hollie Hedrick has created.
This was the first group of three charities to be highlighted. The program runs all year.
The results were exactly as they should have been, in my opinion. When there is a choice to help people or animals, people SHOULD always win. STAR Ranch came in last.
And this is precisely why STAR ranch exists. Animals, horses in particular, are a second, third, maybe even fourth priority in some instances.
If a family is having trouble feeding their kids, how can they feed their horses? Now home to 103 animals and 15 horses STAR Ranch is a place for those second and third priorities to find a safe haven to recover. Funds for horses are frankly, pretty hard to find.
Ms. Hedrick has created a win-win situation for all the chosen charities featured in this program.
Bryan Easler Toyota of Hendersonville is shelling out $12,000 to make $1000 possible to each worthy group who wins their group of three that month. His corporate sponsorship speaks volumes about the kind of people in that organization. He deserves a commendation and support from viewers.
The voting was a roller coaster ride and really quite fun to watch play out. Your wonderful comments, offers to volunteer and donations to STAR Ranch are greatly appreciated.
