Rebecca Parker Thompson
HURST, TEXAS — Rebecca Parker Thompson, 87, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014.
A native of Greenville County, South Carolina, Rebecca was born May 13, 1927, to Alvin and Vinnie Slatton Parker. She grew up in Canton and graduated from Canton High School and Cecil's Business College in Asheville. She and her husband, George, were members of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class and were blessed to be part of the St. Paul family.
She was the loving wife of 65 years to George; dedicated mother to Elaine Champagne, Randall Thompson and wife, Diane, Joyce Thompson; loving grandmother to Russell, Laura, Valerie, Amanda, Chris; and great-grandchildren, Elise, Blake, Austin and Hayden Rebecca; loving older sister to Virginia Clark; and was special to other loved ones, Joe DePaso, John Gabriel, Amy Friar, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Private interment will take place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
