Recycling to become easier

Most people know recycling those leftover newspapers and milk cartons help save the environment, but many are not aware it’s also a substantial money maker for the county.

With a little revamping of its facilities, the county is trying to make recycling easier and more convenient for everyone. And the more county taxpayers willing to recycle, the more money that will flow back into local jobs.

Haywood County Solid Waste Director Stephen King is working out a plan to make a trip to the Materials Recovery Facility in Clyde a “one-stop shop.”

Beginning July 1, the county will close the portion of its facility near Clyde on Jones Cove Road dedicated to unloading trash and reloading it on a county truck to haul to the White Oak landfill.
