Reed to speak at Spring Conference
Hazelwood Presbyterian Church invites the community to its annual Spring Conference, April 6-9, at 368 Hazelwood Ave., Waynesville. The guest speaker will be Dr. Gordon K. Reed.
This year's theme is "The True Lord's Prayer" with messages from John 17. Conference times will be 11 a.m. Sunday, April 6, and 7 p.m. April 7-9. Reed will speak at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, in the fellowship hall.
Reed grew up in Weaverville, where he attended school and went to church with his family. After graduating from King College and Columbia Theological Seminary, he was ordained to the Gospel ministry in 1956. He has been the pastor of churches in Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Mississippi, and has preached throughout the United States as well as in Belize and Japan. He and his son, John, are the founders of Reasonable Hope Ministry.
As a writer, Reed has been a contributing editor to The Presbyterian Journal and The Christian Observer and has also written articles for other publications. He is the author of several books including “Living Life by God’s Law,” a study in the Ten Commandments; “Plain Talk on Christian Doctrine,” studies in the Shorter Catechism; “Christmas: Triumph Over Tragedy;” “The Ministry, Career or Calling?;” and “Reflections on the Seven Last Words of Christ.” His latest book is “Killing Jesus of Nazareth,” which is based on a trustworthy, high view of Holy Scripture.
