Register for new group fitness class at Waynesville Rec Center

By Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department | Jan 04, 2017

The Waynesville Recreation Center will offer a new group fitness class called Genesis. Enrollment is limited. Genesis will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8 am for 12 weeks beginning January 11.

Genesis will be the beginning of the rest of your life! This course is a 12 week training seminar for 5 to 8 individuals who wish to learn about fitness or expand upon their current knowledge base. The time commitment for this course to be effective is 3 hours per week with the exception of the first class meeting for 2-3 hours in the multi-purpose room. At this time we will begin with a fitness intake, including height, weight, BMI, BP, pulse, and more.

From this information and personally set goals we will work together as a team to develop a personal training plan for each member. This will be developed in order to bring the most effect, quickest, long-last results for each team member based upon personal intake information. Training will include diet and nutrition, hydration, sleep, cardio, and muscle training. The ultimate goal is for each student to determine personal Specific Measurable Attainable Relevant Time-Bound (SMART) goals and work toward their fruition with the help of the team and staff.

The instructor will be Kym Barker. She is a mom to two teenage male scholar-athletes and a forensic consultant completing her PhD in psychology. Kym has 25 years involvement in the fitness industry with a background in biochemistry and nutrition. She has multiple fitness instruction certifications and licenses including Zumba, Tabata,  and HIIT Step.
