Kids Advocacy Resource Effort will be holding its annual 5KARE and Fun Run on Saturday, April 26. For every step participants take, KARE is closer to reaching its mission of ending child abuse and neglect through advocacy, education and support.

KARE served over 300 families and victims through their programs last year. The programs KARE offers are the Positive Parenting Program, Parents as Teachers, the Personal Safety Program, victim services and community trainings. Families are never charged for any of the services that KARE provides. KARE continues its work with the support of the community. All are invited to come out and run or walk to fight child abuse.

Registration for the run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. on race day and the Fun Run will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K.  The run will be from the Badcock Furniture parking lot on Main Street in Waynesville to Country Club Drive and back.

Medals will be awarded for the winners of each age division and to every child who participates in the Fun Run. The registration fee is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Included in the price of registration is a T-shirt, race bib and refreshments after the race. T-shirt sizes and availability are only guaranteed through Wednesday, April 16.

To register online, visit www.karehouse.org/2014-5kare.html. For more information on the race, or to find out how to help KARE in other ways, call Julie Schroer at 456-8995.
