Remembering 9/11 in Haywood County
Across Haywood County Wednesday, people were found remembering the events of 9/11 starting at 7:45 a.m. at Pisgah High School where ROTC students conducted a flag ceremony. A flag that was once flown on a Navy destroyer in the Persian Gulf was raised to half mast.
Others gathered at noon on the lawn of the Waynesville historic courthouse for the "Cry Out America" day of prayer. Nearly 30 people joined together to pray, sing and give praise with the 11 reverends who attended from various churches throughout the county.
The reverends who participated in the ceremony included the Revs. Darol Britt from The River in Clyde, Jamie Gardner from Olive Grove Ministry, Steve Frazier from Riverside Baptist in Canton, Mark Caldwell from North Canton Baptist, Bradon Espinosa from New Covenant in Clyde, Perry Hines from The Open Door Ministry, Samuel Gaskins from Life Springs in Canton, Bobby Rogers from Dellwood Baptist Church, Johnny Cox from Hazelwood Church of God and Les Ward from Netzarim Messianic in Clyde.
