A Man of God
IRON DUFF — The Rev. Ted Liner Reeves, 87, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017, at his residence.
A native of Haywood County born in 1929, he was the son of the late Vera Reeves Ferguson and Paul Ferguson, of the Cove Creek community of Haywood County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pansy Bryson Reeves, who died in 2011, with whom he shared more than 61 years of marriage; sister, Margie Reeves; great-grandson, Patrick Crumpler.
Rev. Reeves was a minister for 52 years, serving in various Baptist churches of both Haywood and Jackson counties.
For nearly the past 60 years, he made his home in the Iron Duff community. In addition to his pastoral ministry, he was a former employee of Dayco, farmer, brick-block mason, carpenter and all-around handyman. He enjoyed being with his family, friends and neighbors; keeping up with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the UNC-CH Tar Heels; sharing good stories; and spending a day in quest of some fish.
He is survived by his daughter, Teddie McClure, and her husband, Mike; two sons Larry Reeves and Randy Reeves; grandchildren and their families, Duane Norman, and his wife Amy, their daughters, Sarah and Rachel; Christi Crumpler, and her husband, Neal, their daughter, Allyson, and son, Riley; Rebecca Dean, and her husband, Leejohn; Sara Rosenkrans, and her husband, Jeremey, their sons, Asher and Tim Reeves, and his wife, Beth, with son, Lawson, and daughter Zadie; and Tyler and Liam Reeves.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 22, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Reeves, Tim Reeves and Duane Norman officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home. The committal service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery of the Iron Duff community of Waynesville, conducted by the Revs. Billy Ferguson and Jerry Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory to Fruitland Baptist College, 1455 Gilliam Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
Until the time for the services, the family will be at the home of Teddie and Mike McClure, 290 Fernwood Road, Clyde, NC.
