WNC Advocacy Group, Inc. held its second annual “Ride for Pink!” breast cancer fund raising motorcycle rally Oct. 6, hosted by Smoky Mountain Steel Horses. The rally was held to bring awareness and education regarding breast cancer to the community. A group of local small business owners and their employees banded together to raise funds to provide free breast exams to underserved woman in the community provided through Power of Pink/Haywood Regional Medical Center Foundation, Inc. and the Haywood County Health Department.

“It is our way of giving back to the community,” said Bob LaBracio of Specialty Lock and Door Company.

The other board members of WNC Advocacy Group Inc, a nonprofit organization, included Lisa LaBracio of Massage Matters, Karen Cioce of Champion Credit Union, Stephany Smathers of Pink Regalia, Julie Coombs of NC Mortgage Partner, and Carolyn Brunk of the Oak Park Inn.

“We want to say thank you to everyone who supported us with this year’s event”, said Cioce. “Our major sponsors, Blue Ridge BBQ, Smoky Mountain Coffee Roasters, the Haywood County Board of Realtors, Joann D’Eramo Photography, Best Buy, Beth Brown Photography, K-Mart, Ingles, Evergreen Packaging, Champion Credit Union, Maggie Valley Club, Frog Level Brewing Co. and Headwaters Brewing Company, all stepped up to the task of donating their time, money or products to help make this event a success. We are also thankful to have received significant individual contributions and donations too numerous to mention.”
