Rockets explode against Black Bears
CANTON — Sophomore tailback Jave Jones rushed for 142 yards on only 13 carries and three touchdowns to lead A.C. Reynolds to a 48-17 victory over the Pisgah varsity football team in a non-conference game at Memorial Stadium Friday night.
It was Pisgah’s second consecutive loss where the defense gave up a total of 104 points in the two games.
The Black Bears, which slipped to 1-3 overall, will open the WNC Athletic Conference this Friday at East Henderson in East Flat Rock. The Rockets moved to 3-0 on the season.
While Jones was grinding out yardage on the ground, junior quarterback Levi Ledford methodically picked apart the Pisgah defense. Ledford completed 11-of-20 for a season-high 214 yards 226 yards and two touchdowns.
