The Balsam Area Derby Association will present Roller Derby Rumble at 7 p.m. Saturday. June 28 at Smoky Mountain Sk8way and Fun Zone, 19025 Great Smoky Mountain Expressway in Waynesville.

The hometown roller derby ladies, the Balsam Mountain Roller Girls, host their debut bout against the undefeated Spartanburg Deadly Dolls. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the bout starts at 7 p.m.

The Balsam Mountain Roller Girls were founded in 2012 and are an all-volunteer team with Skaters coming from several counties, all walks of life and many professions to play this fast paced and hard hitting game.

The women’s team along with its coed, juniors and minis team are non-profit and are always finding ways to give back to the community, such as the Polar Plunge that was held to raise money for The Open Door. BMRG has put a lot of work into making this first bout a success. Everyone is invited to come out and support the Balsam Mountain Roller Girls making their derby debut in Waynesville.

Tickets are $8 at the door and children 7 and under are free. For information, call 246-9124.
