Ron Robinson announced his candidacy for District 50 North Carolina Senate seat Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Sylva Public Library.  He based his campaign on the principles that “Every Person Matters” and “Common Sense Solutions.”

Speakers representing small businesses, the environment, schools and healthcare outlined current needs and issues. Robinson addressed solutions developed in conversation with people throughout District 50.

He focused on supporting teachers, funding schools and recruiting companies with well-paying jobs. He promised to restore Medicaid for neighbors in need. He intends to represent 100 percent of hard working citizens, not just the fortunate few, and bring prosperity to seven counties he’ll represent.

Robinson reminded those attending that Senator Jim Davis, a Republican, has done nothing more than rubber stamp legislation written by wealthy outsiders and rammed through the General Assembly by one of the wealthiest men in North Carolina, Art Pope.

Robinson believes that by working together, we can make Western North Carolina a better place to live for everyone living here.
