CANDLER — William Ronald “Ronnie” Jones Sr.,  63, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at his residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Candler and the Canton area, he was a son of the late William Posey and Caroline Sharp Jones.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Williams; one granddaughter, Leanne Chitwood; and one great-grandson, Brent Buchanan.  Ronnie was well known in the surrounding counties for quality horse shoeing.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Lou Gibson Jones; one son, Ronnie Jones Jr.,  and his wife, Debbie, of Candler; two daughters, Lynn Buchanan, and her husband, Steve, of Candler, and Mary Chitwood, and her husband, David, of Waterloo, South Carolina; three sisters, Barbara Banks, of Candler,  Susie Gillespie and Matilda Putnam, both of Canton; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Cayton officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Thickety Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday  at the funeral home.
