Gone But Never Forgotten
CANTON — Roy Cecil Mintz, 73, left us Thursday, May 22, 2014, to join Heaven as its newest angel.
A lifelong native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late John Mintz and the late Violet Reece Mintz. Roy had been employed for many years as a tire re-capper for Browning Tire in Canton. He was a loving father and his grandchildren were his greatest joy. Roy was an avid supporter of the Canton youth football and cheerleading programs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Beverly Jean Swanger Mintz; daughters, Diane Gibson, and her husband, Stanley, of Canton, and Sharon Mintz, of Canton; his sons, Jeff Mintz, and his wife, Dee, of Bethel, Roy Gene Mintz, and his wife, Tiffany, of Clyde, Doug Mintz and his wife, Teresa, of Canton; a sister, Mae Mathis; brothers, Dewey Mintz, Gene Mintz, Oscar Mintz and Boyd Mintz; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at Bethel Baptist Church. The Rev. Roy Kilby will be officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. Mr. Mintz will be returned to his beloved home, 6762 Old Clyde Road, Friday evening where he will remain until one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The family will also be receiving friends at the home beginning Friday evening. Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
