Rufus Jehu Winchester
DEL RIO, TENNESSEE — Rufus Jehu Winchester, 72, of Del Rio, left this world to be with Jesus, Monday, April 28, 2014.
He was a member of Fugate Freewill Baptist Church where he played the guitar and sang, as he did at many other churches and funerals in this and surrounding areas.
Jehu is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue Winchester; sons, Robert David Edwards and Samual David Winchester; and his father, Aaron Winchester.
His is survived by his mother, Norma Winchester, of Waynesville; sons, Jamie Winchester, of Del Rio, and Kenny Winchester, of Marion; daughters, Sherry (Buford) Hayes, of Del Rio, and Tammy (Larry) Woody, of Bybee, Tennessee; grandchildren, Ashley, Michael and Robyn Woody, of Bybee, Andrew (Melanie) Woody, of Morristown, Tennessee, Mandy (Alan) Parker, of Waynesville, Chrisy Jones, of Del Rio, Jeramy (Courtney) Caldwell, of Lenoir City, Tennessee, Ayden Hayes, of Del Rio, Britney Winchester, of Waynesville, Tyanna Winchester, of Marion, and Jennifer Turner, of Newport, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Dixie Webster, of Bybee, Brandi Hill, of Del Rio, Bryson and Jacey Jones, of Del Rio, Cassie and Dalton Parker, of Waynesville, Jaden Woody, of Morristown, Haley Green, of Morristown, Nate, Maddie and Emmie Caldwell, of Lenoir City; and great-great-grandson, Brayden Parker, of Waynesville; brother, Tony Winchester, of Waynesville; sisters, Sonja Reese and Audrey (Dan) Yeager, all of Waynesville.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Nelson officiating. Interment will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the service.
