CLYDE — Deeply Missed
Russell Lee Gentry, 62, of Spencer Street in Clyde, entered his heavenly home Monday, June 3, 2013.
Mr. Gentry was born June 9, 1950 in Haywood County to the late Norman L. Gentry and the late Estella Greenwood Gentry. He was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a 1968 graduate of Tuscola High School. Mr. Gentry had been employed by Champion International and Blue Ridge Paper for more than 20 years and was also a self-employed barber. Russell could often be found working in his lawn, caring for his beautiful roses and plants and always keeping his yard perfectly manicured. He loved the time he spent outdoors and he was also an avid fisherman. “Papa,” as he was affectionately called by his children and grandchildren, was deeply loved by his family and his memory will be forever treasured by each of them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marquetta Bryson Gentry, who passed away in 2009; brother, Donald Gentry; and granddaughter, Amanda Hall.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Nicole Gentry of Clyde; his sons, Russell Gentry Jr. of Clyde and Shaun Bryson and his wife, Fran Bryson of Clyde; grandchildren, Abril Gentry, Briona Gentry, Tyler Yarski , Carly Simmons, Kesha Gentry, Kyla Gentry and Brooklyn Bryson; a great-grandchild, Nevaeh Johnson; brother, Norman Gentry of Waynesville; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A home going celebration for Mr. Gentry will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service.
