Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother
WAYNESVILLE — Sara Nelson, 75, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born in Haywood County May 15, 1937. Sara was an avid gardener who enjoyed growing vegetables and canning and freezing them in the fall. She loved quilting, sewing, crafting, and crocheting. She also loved decorating her home for all holidays, and watching her granddaughters playing ball. She was a member of the Pleasant Balsam Baptist Church. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Nola Conard; brothers, Hollis, Tommy, and James Robert Conard and Pless White; sister, Della; and six grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Don Nelson, nine children, Judy Tobias, and her husband, Randy, Peggy Messer, and her husband, Kenneth “Amey,” Karen Conard, Renee’ Gresock, and her husband, David, Mary Carver, and her husband Jim, Pam Burnette, and her husband Tim, Tina Plemmons, and her husband Richard, Hubert Nelson, and his wife, Erika, and Shonda Seitler; 23 grandchildren, 31 great- grandchildren; and sisters, Addie Conard and Louise Clontz.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, in the Chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park.
