CANTON — Sarah Lee Rice Hall, 85, passed away on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at The Homestead.
She was born in Canton, where she spent her formative years. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Henry S. Hall, who died in 1986; parents, Fred H. and Bula Carver Rice; sisters, Joan Rice and Betty Rice Hayes.
Sarah resided in K.C., Mo. area from 1953 to 1993, where she retired from AT&T Information Technologies as a business services supervisor. After retiring from AT&T, she was in nursing at Independence, Mo., at Independence Regional Health Center.
She was an active member of the Beaverdam United Methodist Church where she served on the administrative counsel, choir, and other offices. She was a past member of Canton Civitan Club, Senior Health Insurance Information Program counselor for the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Haywood Regional Health Center Auxiliary, and a life time member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Surviving are her sister, Dorothy Rice Roberts and her husband, Bobby; several nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Melissa Lowe officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Beaverdam Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
