Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation’s eighth annual Furry Friends Benefit Bash will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Laurel Ridge Country Club in Waynesville. It’s an evening of fun, food, music and lively live and silent auctions.

“Laurel Ridge Country Club is a beautiful setting for the event,” said Sarge’s board president Gary Smith. “Come join Sarge’s for an evening of fun celebrating the animals we love. Sarge’s has received great community support for its pet adoptions, but there is still much work to be done to save homeless dogs and cats in Haywood County.”

Before the dinner, guests may enjoy bidding on silent auction items, including many dining, golf and spa packages, as well as unique items for people and their pets.

The live auction will include an overnight package at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort, vacation packages and special ‘tag-along work days.’

New this year will be “Buy-It-Now” auction items at the event and an online auction. The “Buy-It-Now” auctions will be fixed price —first come, first buy — and will include specialty items, sculptures and art pieces. The online auction will include the ever-popular rights to have the winner’s dog’s picture on the 2017 Sarge’s Dog Walk T-shirt.

The evening’s auctioneer will be Todd Thompson, owner of Thompson Carr Auction in Sevierville, Tennessee. Thompson also owns the world-famous Charity Pros Benefit Auction Service.

“Sarge’s is grateful to The Mountaineer and Harrah’s Cherokee Resort Casino for partnering with us to support the Furry Friends Benefit Bash,” said Smith, event co-chairman.

“Last year’s Furry Friends was the most-lively, most fun, of any of the seven benefit bashes Sarge’s has held,” said Sarah Jane League, co-chairman of the event. “All those interested in attending are urged to get tickets soon, since the event sold-out the last two years.”

The event will be a sit-down dinner with two entrées from which to choose. Laurel Ridge Country Club is offering a sirloin steak/chicken Marsala combination or vegetarian entrée, all with side dishes, salad and dessert. Menu selections must be turned in by Sept. 29. There will be a cash bar.

Tickets may be purchased for $75 per person at Sarge’s Adoption Center, 256 Industrial Park Dr., Waynesville. Table sponsorships are available for $650, which will reserve a table for eight guests.
