Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation saved 115 animals in the month of January. There were 52 adoptions (33 dogs and 19 cats), plus 63 animals transported to other states, in the highly successful partnership transport program.

“We are off to a good start for 2014,” said adoption coordinator Michael Ritter. “Let’s keep the momentum going.”

Sarge’s mission is to save Haywood County animals from euthanasia. Dogs and cats are available for adoption from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays at Sarge’s Adoption Center, 256 Industrial Park Drive, Waynesville, or the public may adopt Sarge’s cats from PetSmart, in Waynesville.

For more information regarding Sarge’s, to donate or volunteer, visit or call 246-9050. Volunteers are needed for many different tasks at Sarge’s. The community is asked to think about how people can help the effort, either by volunteering their time or donating funds for the medical care of the animals.
