Sarge’s on the way to record adoptions

Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation reported it is on the way to setting another record year for adoptions, with a good first half of the year. Through June, Sarge’s has had 315 adoptions (105 cats, 210 dogs, compared to 274 adoptions (82 cats, 192 dogs) for the same period last year, a 15 percent increase.

June had a total 47 adoptions (17 cats, 30 dogs), which is the second best June in Sarge’s history.

“We are doing very well, however, it’s kitten season now,” said Sarge’s board president Gary Smith, “and the need for adoptions continues.”

Sarge’s is holding a sale on cat and kitten adoptions through July 31. During Sarge’s cat sale, all cats over 4 months are half-price ($25), and kittens under 4 months are buy one get one free — $60 for two kittens.

Animal lovers are invited to come to Sarge’s Adoption Center at 256 Industrial Park Dr. in Waynesville or visit Sarge’s cats at Pet Smart in Waynesville to get the special price on a cat or kitten.
