Sarge’s sets another record
August was another great month for adoptions at Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation, with a total of 86 adoptions (40 cats, 46 dogs). The previous record was 77 adoptions (37 cats, 40 dogs) in December 2012.
“In fact it was our best month ever,” said Sarge’s board president Gary Smith. “We had 50 adoptions (24 cats, 26 dogs) last August, which was the best August in Sarge’s history. While the numbers look great, there is still much work to do to help save Haywood County dogs and cats from euthanasia.”
For the year we have completed 475 adoptions (185 cats, 290 dogs), which compares to 382 adoptions (130 cats, 252 dogs) for the same period last year — a 24 percent increase year to year.
“One way to help save more animals is to attend the 5th annual Sarge’s Furry Friends Benefit Bash at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Laurel Ridge Country Club,” Smith said.
The fundraising event and includes both a silent and live auction. The meal will be a sit-down dinner with a choice of four entrees. Tickets are $50 and tables for eight may be reserved.
