Sarge's volunteers have been gathering live and silent auction items for the 4th Annual Furry Friends Benefit Bash to take place on Thursday, October 4th, at the Cork & Cleaver Restaurant in the Waynesville Inn. "Our local merchants and community members have graciously donated vacation accommodations, golf packages, handcrafted pottery, art work, pet portraits and a myriad of home decor items that we feel our guests will be excited to bid on. There will be live and silent auctions," said Gary Smith, President and event coordinator. "As the major sponsor, The Mountaineer has been invaluable in helping Sarge's get the word out on this event and printing the flyer along with ticket registration forms."

The featured live auction donation is a handcrafted necklace, designed by Jeannie Tracy, owner of the Jeweler's Workbench. The necklace is delicately styled and created from 14 carat yellow and white gold with .76 carat white and black diamonds. "This is the 4th year that Jeannie's handcrafted designer jewelry has been the premiere auction item at Sarge's Furry Friends Benefit Bash," said Rosa Allomong, committee member. "She has always had rescue dogs and has supported Sarge's from the very beginning."

The live auction will also include a vacation week to one of several exotic locations including Honolulu, Kono, or Maui in Hawaii; Acapulco, Mexico or Costa del Sol, Spain; a two-day getaway to Savannah, GA; a Raclette Dinner for eight, and additional dining and specialty items.

The auctioneer for the evening again will be Travis Royston from Elizabethton, Tennessee. "He is an excellent auctioneer and has a knack for making sure everyone is having a good time," said Connie Hewitt, Sarge’s Board member.

There will be a cash bar and a sit-down dinner. The Cork & Cleaver is offering a choice of Roasted New York Strip Steak, Mushroom Stuffed Chicken Breast, Grilled Mahi Mahi, or a vegetarian meal of Wild Mushroom Ravioli.
