Pictured is committee member Ruth Simoson at last year’s event, with one of the Longaberger baskets given as a prize.

The eighth annual Baskets and Bags Bingo will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at the Haywood County Fairgrounds. The event is presented by the Catholic Women’s Circle of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and benefits many community agencies.

In the past, the CWC has made donations to agencies such as MedWest Hospice, The Open Door, the Community Kitchen in Canton, Good Samaritan Clinic, Haywood Christian Ministry, REACH, KARE, Mountain Projects, Meals on Wheels, Camp Ability and others.

“We could not provide the support these agencies desperately need without your help,” said Ann Simmons, bingo co-chair. “It’s a popular event. In past years, bingo players have lined up at the fairgrounds to be one of 500 attendees — all ready for some bingo.”

Sponsorships are available now and player tickets will be available in July.

“A sponsorship donation of $100 will help us increase the amount we can give to local charities,” said CWC member Belinda Lowe. “Contributions are tax deductible and sponsor name will appear in the program, which is given to more than 500 guests.”

Prizes at the fun event include Longaberger baskets valued at $1,800 and Vera Bradley bags valued at $1,600. There will be many door prizes and a drawing for Longaberger baskets.

Individual and corporate sponsorships are available for $100. For sponsorship information, call Belinda Lowe at 648-5568.

Players may reserve a table of eight. The cost is $20 for 21 games. For tickets and information, call Karen Conner at 452-0768.
