Scallywag’s business rises with the years
Scott Grover, owner of Scallywag’s Fine Furniture Consignments in Waynesville, took the pragmatic business approach, doing a lot of research before opening his furniture and in-home furnishings consignment store.
While Grover thought consignment would be a “fun business to get into,” he joined NARTS (The Association of Resale Professionals) and attended one of the conventions in California. There he talked with many shop owners about the business before taking the plunge January 2007 with his 5,000 square-foot store in Muse Business Park, located off the bypass, across from Barber Orchard.
Grover wanted a catchy named the for the business and decided on Scallywag’s — it’s what his mother called him as a child —meaning, “You’re such a Scallywag (rascal).”
