Schools closed, Saturday classes set

Mar 25, 2014

Haywood County Schools are closed Tuesday, March 25 due to snow.

Weather permitting, school will be made up on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 8 a.m. until noon.

"The school district understands that some families and some schools have scheduled activities on Saturdays.  When parents feel students cannot attend on Saturday, the school district will make every reasonable effort to excuse the absence," said Associate Superintendent Bill Nolte.

School officials inspect all bus routes early in the mornings when it is suspected foul weather could create safety concerns. In the event more than 10 percent of the bus routes are deemed unsafe, school will be closed or delayed if it appears conditions will improve that morning.

If only a few bus routes are impacted, the school has an option to keep schools in the district open but not run buses on icy roads.

It's bad enough they schedule classes on Shabbot. If they truly valued "education" as opposed to just making up the missed time they would operate the full day schedule.

Actually, to be fair, there should be public school 7 days a week year round.

Did you ever notice right wingers only embrace the notion of a Judeo/Christian nation when it suits them, false as it is.
