See Band of Oz at River Fest on Saturday
Get ready for an evening of great music at the Canton Pigeon River Fest on Saturday, Aug. 23.
The famous Band of Oz will be present a free concert beginning at 6 p.m. at Turner Stage located at the Canton Recreation Park.
The Band of Oz has made an exceptional name for itself throughout the Southeast and they have been guest performers at most of the major beach concerts in the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia. They are a dynamic group that performs well over 300 shows each year.
In 1995 they released the hit single “Shama Lama Ding Dong” which won the People’s Choice Song of the Year Award and is one of the most requested beach songs of all time. Canton welcomes back former resident Jerry West, a featured member of the band who will get everyone in his hometown into the shagging mood when he takes the stage at the River Fest.
The Pigeon River Fest will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and will take place along the Canton Walking Trail and at the Canton Recreation Park. There will be a car show and tractor show; Little Miss and Mr. Labor Day Contest; music by Gray Wolfe; a variety of craft vendors; food; children’s activities; and an antique show. The day will end with the Band of Oz concert.
