See wire-wrapped jewelry demo April 27 in Clyde
Artisan in the Mountains will host a jewelry demonstration featuring items from Tenya Designs and Annie’s Goodies from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at 99 Depot St., in Clyde.
Lending an inside peek of wire wrapped jewelry, local crafters Tenya Reed and Ann Jenkins will demonstrate one of the oldest techniques for jewelry making by hand. Some of their methods include the use of antique buttons, beach glass, copper and sterling silver over copper.
Friends for as long as they can remember, Reed and Jenkins began making jewelry in the late 1970s. They each got their start at Haywood Community College in the jewelry program. Reed is a second generation jeweler, with her father being the first. Reed taught herself the art of jewelry wrapping a year ago. They would like to introduce to anyone interested, an art that is only limited by one’s imagination.
