Mountain Projects, Inc., operates three senior nutrition programs five days each week for those age 60 and older:

— Maggie Valley: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maggie Valley Town Hall, 3987 Soco Road. Call 926-3099, ext. 110.

— Waynesville: 8 a.m. to noon at the Old Armory, 44 Boundary St. Call 452-7029.

— Canton: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Canton Senior Center, 1 Pigeon St. Call 648-8173.

The program promotes the health and wellness of older adults and provides a much-needed social interaction.

“We are committed to promoting better health, improved nutrition and providing access to supportive services,” said Darlene McElrath, senior services coordinator. “We provide nutritionally balanced meals, offer crafts, health promotions, field trips, Bingo, access to computers, exercise and other fun games.”

Individuals age 60 and up or spouses of those age 60 are invited to attend. Donations are encouraged to offset the cost of the meal; no one will be denied because of inability to donate.

Reservations are needed one day in advance and can be made by calling the Nutrition Sites.
