Senior trip to see the elk is Sept. 9, 23

The Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department will offer a trip to see the elk from 3 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 and 23. The trip will leave from the Waynesville Recreation Center.

See the elk up close and personal in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Cataloochee Valley during a guided tour. Participants will learn about the rich history and explore the historical buildings of the area and all about the magnificent elk.

Dinner will be held on the grounds and participants are asked to bring their own dinner, a camera, binoculars, a chair and bug spray.

Space is limited to the first seven people who register for each trip.

The cost for transportation is $5 for members and $7 for nonmembers of the Waynesville Recreation Center.
