Shady Ladies keep 'Pushing Tradition'

The Haywood County Arts Council’s Gallery 86 is hosting an exhibition of art quilt pieces by the Shady Ladies Quilting Group this month. “Pushing Tradition” will be open Wednesday, Aug. 1 through Saturday, August 25. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The artist’s reception will take place on Friday evening, August 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. in conjunction with Waynesville’s "Art After Dark" event. On Saturday, August 4 Gallery 86 will also participate in Waynesville’s “Saturday Stroll” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Each year members of the Shady Ladies quilting group of Haywood County create original wall hangings in response to a challenge put to them by their leaders, Jane Cole and Wendy Bowen.
