ARDEN — Shaina Dianne Godfrey, 27, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Mission Hospital's Memorial Campus.
A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of John Buster Godfrey Jr. and Karen Annette Pace Godfrey. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Forrest Glen Pace and John Buster Godfrey Sr.; and an aunt, Kimbra Pace Wells.
She attended Boiling Springs Baptist Church in Fletcher and was a member of Arden First Baptist Church. She had been Garden Place coordinator for Alzheimer's patients, who she cared for as though they were her own family, and was currently employed by the Davies Insurance Group of Arden. Shaina had an extremely loving, outgoing and caring personality that was infectious to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a son, Gavin Taylor, of the home; her fiancé, Jonathan Taylor, of Arden; maternal grandmother, Pat Pace, of Canton; paternal grandmother, Virginia Godfrey, of Hendersonville; two step-sisters, Jennifer Schleicher, of Union, South Carolina, and Tracy Elder, of Virginia; a step-brother, Joseph Godfrey, of Hendersonville; an aunt, Peggy Corn (Tony), of Hendersonville; an uncle, Michael Godfrey, of Hendersonville; special cousins, Cody Wells, of Asheville, Brandy Underwood, of Etowah, and Haley Burnette, of Clyde, as well as several other cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Revs. Jonathan Blaylock and Cody Sturgill officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
