Sheriff's arrests, April 22
The following is a listing of arrests made by the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office from April 16 through April 22.
Gina Selene Smith, 32, of Echo Drive, Waynesville, was arrested April 19 after fleeing police in a Ford pickup truck. During the pursuit on Old Clyde Road, Smith lost control of the truck, hit an embankment, and overturned the vehicle.
The passenger, Daniel Black, 32, of Gentian Way, Waynesville, was attempting to flee the truck when Deputy Micah Phillips apprehended him.
Both suspects were taken to the hospital to be inspected for injuries and then to the Haywood County Detention Center.
Smith was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest and Black was served with warrants from Rabun County, Georgia.
Smith was released on $5,000 unsecured bond with a court date of May 2 and Black was jailed under $35,000 bond with a court date of May 21.
In other arrests, Emma Joleen Hill, 35, of Lost Cove Road, Clyde, was served with warrants April 19 charging her with possession of meth.
She was jailed under $3,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 9.
On April 20, deputies charged Matthew Dillon Smathers, 27, of Main Street, Waynesville, and Takeyla Lynne Follett, 33, of Liberty Road, Enka, both with felony possession of a stolen vehicle. Both were jailed under $5,000 secured bond with a court date of May 2.
Jacob Wilbur Wright, 24, of Holder Branch Road, Canton, was served with warrants April 22 charging him with common law robbery.
He was jailed under $10,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 2.

April 17: Randy Lee Smith was charged with possessing tobacco in jail.
April 17: Christa B. Long was charged with harassing phone calls.
April 17: Jonathan Woody was charged with failure to appear in court.
April 18: Christopher Luke Duffey was charged with harassing phone calls.
April 18: Joseph Eisa Gonzalez Vecchio was charged with parole and probation violations.
April 18: Erica Lynn Hampton was charged with being a fugitive out of state.
April 18: Jerimy Thomas Hewitt was charged with driving with a revoked license.
April 19: Brandon Michael Rhinehart was charged with failure to appear in court.
April 20: Matthew Dillon Smathers was charged with contempt of court, perjury and court violations.
April 20: James Kevin Medford was charged with obtaining property by false pretense.
April 20: Timothy Allen Hancock was charged with failure to pay child support.
April 20: Maureen Frances Crews was charged with driving while impaired.
April 21: Niles Wayne Burke Jr. was charged with failure to pay alimony.
April 21: David Kevin Long was charged with failure to pay alimony.
April 22: Harold Allen Welsh was charged with being drunk and disruptive.
April 22: James Douglas Ray was charged with contempt of court, perjury and court violations.
April 22: Christopher Eugene Parsons was charged with probation violations and traffic violations.
