WAYNESVILLE — Sherlie Ira Broom, 68, of Waynesville, died at his residence, Sunday, June 17, 2012. He was the son of the late Ira and Eva Young Broom. He was a self-employed powder man. Sherlie enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Sue Gaddis Broom in 2007; infant son, Buddy Allen Broom; sister, Bernice Moore of Atlanta, Georgia; and brother, Clifton Broom of Glenville.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet Fernandez and husband, Roger; son, Wayne Broom, and wife Kristy, all of Waynesville; sister, Wilma Hooper of Sylva; special family members, Alzia Johnson and husband, Ed of Alexandria, Virginia, and Alvin Broom of Sylva; six grandchildren, Aaron, and Josh Fernandez and ...
