Shining Rock Riverfest this Saturday
Music lovers will have a chance to enjoy a variety of genres and give back to a good cause at the Shining Rock Riverfest Saturday, Sept. 14.
The music festival is the first fundraiser for Camp Hope, a 10-acre piece of town-owned property in Canton that has been the subject of recent legal dispute.
Friends of Camp Hope, an organization dedicated to preserving the property and making it more user friendly, is sponsoring the event, which will feature nine bands including David Teague, Petticoat Government, McKayla Reece, Soldiers Heart, Black Robin Hero, Rain or Shine Goodtime Stringband, Owner of the Sun, Swayback Sisters and Indigo.
The cost is $7 per person at the gate (carpooling is encouraged). Bands will be performing from 1 to 10 p.m.
In addition to the music, there will be kid's activities, silent auction items, 50/50 tickets, drinks, desserts and barbecue for purchase. Money raised at the festival will go toward upkeep of Camp Hope.
Camp Hope is located at 312 Camp Hope Road, Canton. For more information call 828-400-7499.
