'Shock and Awe'
Sylva — The visiting Tuscola varsity football team was shocked by Smoky Mountain, 26-21, in its WNC Athletic Conference opener Friday night.
The Mountaineers dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the WNCAC, while the Mustangs improved to 1-4 and 1-0 in the conference.
In WNCAC opener in East Flat Rock, the Pisgah varsity football team watched in awe as East Henderson scored 36 points in the first half as the Eagles thumped the Black Bears, 51-33, Friday night.
Pisgah drops to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the WNCAC, while East Henderson improved to 4-1 and 1-0 in the conference.
Next Friday, Tuscola will host Brevard at C.E. Weatherby Stadium, while Franklin invades Pisgah Memorial Stadium to play the Black Bears.
