Shocked at Smoky
SLYVA — knew going into the 2012 season that Tuscola would probably struggle early due to its difficult non-conference schedule.
But just when the Mountaineers thought they had made it out of the wilderness and into the promised land it became clear that they had not yet arrived.
Smoky Mountain rolled to a 26-21 victory on Friday night at Carr Hooper Stadium.
This marks Smoky Mountain’s first win of the 2012 season and only the second over Tuscola in the last decade, which took place in 2006 when the Mustangs won in overtime, 21-14.
Smoky Mountain improves to 1-4 overall (1-0 WNCAC) while Tuscola drops to 0-5 (0-1 WNCAC), only the third 0-5 start in school history.
The last 0-5 start for the Mountaineers also came in 2006. Tuscola finished that season with a 2-9 record, which was the worst ...
