The Classic Wineseller welcomes singer-songwriter, Paul Cataldo (guitar, banjo, vocals) in a return engagement to Friday Night Live on April 12, 2013 from 7:00-10:00pm. Small plate fare is prepared from 5:30-9:00pm in the Classic Wineseller’s kitchen, 20 Church Street in Waynesville.
Paul Cataldo has been playing music since he was 14 years old and first heard Neil Young perform. Catldo spent day after day in his room, bent over, back aching, completely focused on drawing all those classic rock songs from his Strat, and, he got good, really good, using the songs of John Fogerty, Lindsay Buckingham, and David Gilmour to guide him. He landed his first job playing lead with Shortbus, a Boston-based cover band.
After three years of playing other people’s music, Paul Cataldo moved to New York where he bought a Martin guitar and began to find “his” voice as a songwriter. His music covers a range of topics from alcoholism, war, poverty and jealousy to songs of peace and love.
Cataldo regularly tours the eastern US from Portland, ME to Savannah, GA. His first full length LP "Rivers, Roads & Mountains" (2009) has been receiving steady airplay on college stations in the northeast. The LP was recorded at Quad Studios in Nashville, the same room where Neil Young recorded his breakthrough record "Harvest.” Some of Nashville's best known session players appear throughout the album as well as long time music companions Tony Montalbano and Eben Pariser of Roosevelt Dime.
Each week the Classic Wineseller's popular Friday Night Live music series showcases local, regional, and on occasion--national talent.
