Motivating employees to perform well is an especially difficult challenge because every individual is different. . . there is no sure fire formula that applies in every situation. However, nonprofit leadership can learn to shape the performance of employees by using a proven, performance management system based on an organization's existing mission or values. This training session uses experiential real-life scenarios to teach the art and science of coaching (reinforcing desirable behavior) and counseling (altering unacceptable behavior without de-motivating an employee). During this session, attendees will:  learn to apply a simple, three-step coaching method to reinforce desirable behavior; identify how to differentiate between a compliment and a coaching statement; develop skills to identify ineffective or inappropriate employee behaviors; and learn a six-step method to alter unacceptable behavior without de-motivating the employee. Speaker is John Curtis, Ph.D. This seminar will be held in Building 1500, Room 1510 on the HCC campus.
